Why do we need ERRCS Systems?

During the 9/11 disaster, we lost a number of first responders specifically due to the inability to effectively communicate from outside the building to inside the building, as well as the reverse, inside to outside.  ERRCS (Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems) or BDA (Bi Directional Amplifier) are used as repeaters to ensure first responders are able to communicate, freely.  The Codes have steadily been updated and ERRCS testing and implementation are becoming more common, as a result.
